Baan Silapin, "Artist House".

Baan Silapin, "Artist House"

Not too far from the shiny path is a small community that does not appear to have changed much in some time. The "cornerstone" is Baan Silapin, a home converted into an art studio.

Besides offering a glimpse of bygone days, one can take in some of the works created by resident artists. Of course, if you find something you like, purchases are welcomed!

One of the artists at work!

The house is built around some intriguing temple ruins.

Throughout the afternoon, many longtails pass by, offering tourists a fleeting glimpse of the village.

Sculptures are placed throughout the village, adding to the atmosphere

"Puppeteers" entertain passersby

Baan Silapin Is not difficult to visit. From Downtown, it would probably be easiest to take the BTS to Wongwian Yai, then flag a taxi to Charan Santiwong soi 3. Have the driver take you to the 7/11 down the soi, not to be confused with the 7/11 at the main road. From there walk over the bridge to the village. "Baan Silapin" will be to the left, although the surrounding area is good to explore.

To get back out, head back over the bridge and use a songthaew or moto to get outside the soi. Then, flag a taxi to Wongwian Yai or downtown.

Many seem to pass by via longtail. You can, most likely, hire a longtail to do a klong tour into the area.
